Any Time
There’s a secret in reiki. And I’ll spill it here. We (you as receiver, me as practitioner) don’t have to be in the same room for the reiki energy to transmit. I know, sounds pretty woo, right? But the thing is, this is energy work and energy is not constrained by distance or time. Meaning, with intention and a few tools, a reiki practitioner can send you healing energy from across the room, across the country, and even across the world.
Distance reiki can be shared in synchronous, or asynchronous sessions. In a synchronous session, you and the practitioner set a time to connect, and are together, as it were, at the same time, even if not in the same room. An asynchronous session is one where practitioner and client are not sending and receiving the energy at the same time, rather the energy is sent by the practitioner at one point in time, and the client receives it at a different point in time. If you feel like this sounds odd, or a little out there, consider the idea of the way prayer works (if you’re a pray-er), or sending good thoughts or vibes to someone. You don’t need to be in the same place for that kind of action to have impact. Sending distance reiki is much the same, and remember, your practitioner sets the intention that the energy will convey and that you will receive and benefit from it. Intention is incredibly powerful. So is reiki.
My preference as a practitioner is to meet by video or phone call so I can share anything that comes up during the session with my client, and we can talk together about the experience. That’s not to say that an asynchronous reiki share isn’t a valid and often powerful experience on its own, it truly is just that, however, I enjoy the personal connection of being “together” with my client during the session.
I have experienced reiki shares many, many times as an asynchronous event. Beginning with the reiki sent to my labor and delivery of my third child by my first teacher, to myriad experiences of students and fellow practitioners sending reiki for a variety of reasons. I know the power of receiving reiki that has been sent on my behalf. I like to believe that when I send reiki to others, it is received and experienced in a similar way. In the words of a friend and fellow reiki master:
For me, when I have received, knowing that it’s coming, it’s like knowing that someone is praying for me. I feel lighter, I feel supported. Because I am sensitive to it, I feel my nervous system is at greater ease. My pain is eased. I am calmer. I typically feel like I’m enveloped in that vibration and frequency. -J.F.
I think her words perfectly express how powerful it can be to receive reiki by distance.
If you’ve read much at this blog, you know that I have been on this path with reiki for quite some time now, and I believe that sharing reiki is a great honor. That’s how I’ve felt from the beginning of experiencing then learning reiki. And to that end, sharing it with as many others as I can is my mission and my goal.
I have recently shifted my pricing structure for sessions with that goal in mind. I am very aware of the constraints of a budget, and fully cognizant that something like a reiki session feels perhaps like a luxury item that doesn’t easily fit into the household spending. I want my pricing to feel accessible and make reiki a possibility for my clients without emptying the wallet. (And if my prices still feel prohibitive to a client, I am more than willing to work with them to find the price point that is comfortable.) This practice aligns with my intention to share reiki as much as I can, as often as I can.
One of the pure joys of this work is to watch it work in others. Reiki has been my path to peace and grounded growth in my life for many years now. I believe reiki can offer the same for you.
I’m ready for you. Here in the studio or across space and time. Let’s connect and allow the reiki energy to bring you restoration and healing for whatever you may need.
